Description
A jewel appliqué for the front of a caftan, karakou, blouza or tesdira gown: large navette stones and a few round clear stones, claw-set in a gold-tone mount and linked by interlaced rows of gold-tone rhinestone chain. One vertical, symmetrical piece — a rosette at the centre, a flower above and one below, a navette-shaped loop at each end — about 25 × 7 cm. Heat-set back: apply it with an iron, under a pressing cloth and without steam, and a few stitches of clear thread make it firmer.
Provenance
Turkish appliqué bought in Istanbul, under the El Fetla label.
